04 / About the studio

A small studio
that over-builds.

Two of us. Singapore. Hand-coding sites for SMBs who deserve better than a Wix template and can't afford an agency that bills $50k for a homepage.

We started Growuild because every other studio in Singapore was either billing $50k for a brochure site or shipping $300 templates with the client logo dropped on top. Nothing in between.

Singapore SMBs — the F&B brand, the physio clinic, the KTV, the tuition centre, the catering operator — deserve the same craft as the multinational. They just need it priced for their world.

So we built the in-between. Hand-coded. Mobile-first. Lighthouse 95+. Two-week minimum. No templates, no page-builders, no "we'll wireframe it next week."

Every project starts with one conversation: what's broken? Sometimes it's the design. Sometimes the speed. Sometimes the brand voice doesn't match what the owner actually says when you sit across from them at a kopitiam.

We don't ship until the answer to "what's broken?" is "nothing, ship it." That usually takes 2–6 weeks depending on scope. Sometimes it takes one weekend.

We're not trying to be the biggest. We're trying to be the studio you'd actually recommend to your friend who runs the bubble tea shop.

05 / Principles

What we refuse to ship.

Six rules that decide whether a build leaves the studio. If any of these fail, we re-do that part. No exceptions.
01
Lighthouse 95+ on mobile or it doesn't ship.
Singapore SMB customers are on subway 4G, low-end Androids, sometimes the back of a kopitiam at 2am. The site has to load before they leave the page.
02
No template that someone else also has.
If you can buy your design on ThemeForest, your competitor can too. Hand-coded means the design is yours and yours alone.
03
The brand voice has to feel like the owner.
If we wrote the copy and the owner wouldn't actually say it across a table, we rewrite. The site is the brand, and the brand is the person running it.
04
No "your designer left so we can't update it."
Every site we ship has a 1-page handover doc explaining how to change copy and swap images. If the doc is too long, the site is too complicated.
05
Conversion path comes before art direction.
A beautiful site that doesn't convert is a portfolio piece, not a working tool. We design the lead form first, then everything else around it.
06
If the brief is wrong, we say so.
Most "I need a new site" briefs are actually "my marketing isn't working." We'll tell you when the site isn't the bottleneck — even if it costs us the project.
06 / Process

Five steps,
no surprises.

From first message to live site, this is the path every project takes. Times are realistic, not aspirational.
01
Day 0–2

Brief — one conversation

15 min on WhatsApp or 30 min over kopi. We figure out what's actually broken, what scope makes sense, and whether we're the right fit.

02
Week 1

Blueprint — one mock

One Figma frame for desktop, one for mobile. The hero, the conversion path, the brand voice. No "design library." No 12-page comp deck.

03
Week 2–4

Build — hand-coded

HTML, CSS, JS. No frameworks unless the project genuinely needs one. Live preview URL day 1. You see the site grow in real time.

04
Week 4–5

Polish — two passes

One round of "make it pop" notes from you. One round of mobile + a11y + cross-device testing from us. No infinite revision loops.

Week 5–6

Launch — five-minute swap

Domain pointed at Cloudflare. Old redirects mapped. Analytics + WhatsApp form wired. We're on standby for the first 48 hours after go-live.

07 / Who we work with

Three kinds of brief.

Most of our work clusters into one of these. If you're outside, still send the brief — we'll tell you straight.
01 / Most common

The SMB owner

F&B, clinic, tuition, KTV, catering. You're 1–3 years in, doing well enough to invest in a real site. Your current one is either a $200 Wix or 5 years old. You want something that converts and looks like you.

02 / Second most

The brand launching

You're starting something. Need a microsite for the launch, the first IG drop, the press round. We can move in 2 weeks, often less. You bring the product, we bring the page.

03 / The fun ones

The weird brief

Editorial scrollytelling. Pixel-art mascot. 3D Singapore landmark. The "make it not look like a website" project. We've shipped Tembusu, Kopitiam, Build Mode. We'll ship yours.

Bring us the brief.

No deck needed. WhatsApp works. So does a sketch on a napkin.
